Sri Venkata Krishna Higher Secondary School, Kaniyur was established in the year 1898 and it was upgraded to Higher Secondary School in the year 1987. The school completed its 100 years of history in the year 1999. Over the past 120 years, the school has produced some of the finest scholars. Presently the strength of the school children studying classes six to twelve is 985 with 515 boys and 470 girls.168 students from twelfth standard, 179 students from eleventh and 163 students from the tenth standard will be appearing for Public Exam this year. The school staff has 43 teachers in total with 20 Male and 23 Female instructors. The school staff also consists of 4 clerks and 2 part-timers and 10 instructors work under self-financing division. It has won many prizes for Drawing, Science Innovations, and Quiz, Sport- Football etc.
Students from the school bagged prestigious awards like Kamarajar, Abdul Kalam Excellency award and also represented the school at District and National levels in Arts and Science categories. The school staff and students coordinate well with the school management in accomplishing the results and maintain the trust. The students also take a keen interest in scientific activities and take the initiative to plan, organize and evaluate various science-related events.The students actively participate in literary and creative skills at school.
